Captain Rick Patterson

Captain Rick Patterson has been fishing the waters of North Carolina for his entire life from the mountains to the coast. He is originally from the Piedmont area of North Carolina and grew up bass fishing and eventually competing in bass tournaments. The years of bass fishing built a great understanding of fish movements and patterns which helped him become one of the top inshore guides in the state.

Tournaments

In 2001, Captain Rick moved to Carteret County, North Carolina, and his charter service, Cape Crusader Charters, was in full swing by 2003. He has participated in numerous redfish and trout tournaments in Carteret County and Onslow County, placing 2nd place in the Redfish Action Cup, 3rd place in the Carolina Redfish Series twice, and 4th place in the Carolina Redfish Elite. He also placed 1st in the Swansboro Speckled Trout Tournament. Captain Rick joined the IFA Redfish Tour and fished this national tournament series for eight years. He finished 1st place in the IFA Redfish Series in Charleston, SC in both 2012 and 2013 and finished in the top ten for several years in a row.

While Captain Rick is a tournament champion, he is also an accomplished charter captain. He has a record of consistently putting his clients on fish and having an abundance of satisfied customers who return annually. In addition to catching fish, clients are entertained and genuinely enjoy being on the water with Captain Rick.

He is a people person who loves spending time with clients and their families. His enthusiasm is overwhelming, and he is always thrilled to share his knowledge of the North Carolina coastal fishery and wildlife. He fishes out of Chasin’ Tails Outdoors in Atlantic Beach, NC and Casper’s in Swansboro, NC depending on where the fish are biting the most. Come join Captain Rick for a day or weekend on the water.
